Aurelio De Laurentis confirms that Juventus will not sign Higuain
Arsenal may have been given a lifeline by
Napoli for the signature of Gonzalo Higuain
after the club’s president Aurelio De
Laurentis said Juventus would not sign the
Argentine striker.
It’s been reported over the past few weeks
that the Italian Champions were set to land
the record-breaking striker, for almost
€100m, reports that have now been
debunked as a baseless rumour.
The De Laurentis confirmed that there are
no plans for Napoli to sell their top
marksman, or is Juventus planning to
negotiate a deal for the player when he
spoke to the Champions general manager,
Giuseppe Moratta.
He said: “There was never any contact
between Juventus and Napoli for Higuain.”
“Marotta confirmed to me today that Juve
had no intentions of meeting his buy-out.
“I asked Marotta if he wanted to discuss the
clause, but he assured me that it had not
even crossed his mind,” added De
Laurentiis.
However, the Napoli chief also revealed
that as much as they are not willing to sell
the player to Juve, they still aren’t willing to
sell him to another club, adding that the
player himself has not indicated any
interest in leaving the San Paolo.
“No club has made an offer, nor has
Higuain told us that he wants to leave,” De
Laurentiis clarified.
“It is time to stop with this whole world of
crap and apologise to the supporters who
have been left upset by these reports.”
