14 Rare Classic Pictures Of Nigeria In The 60’s (photos)
Nigeria, we hail thee,
Our own dear native landposhough tribe and tongue may differ,
In brotherhood we stand,
Nigerians all are proud to serve
Our sovereign Motherland.
Our flag shall be a symbol
That truth and justice reign,
In peace or battle honour’d
And this we count as gain,To hand on to our children
A banner without stain.
O God of all creation,
Grant this our one request,
Help us to build a nation
Where no man is oppressed,
And so with peace and plenty
Nigeria may be blessed.
Those were the very words Nigerians sang back in the 60’s and 70’s as our National Anthem. A time where true patriotism reigned in the blood streams of every Nigerian and orderliness was seen from afar.
No one has to question twice who we were as a country and what we stood for. Conversing with our parents you could almost feel the joy and yearn for the old times and days where peace and plenty were in abundance.
I got a few pictures from the 60’s and 70’s that’s got me wishing I was born then. Compared to what we have now, should I say I prefer the olden days? No doubt the ‘now’ has it’s pro’s but the average Nigerian is yet to experience that. As a people, we still remain hopeful.
